According to astrologers, the moon has recently cause the Earth’s axis to wobble, which means that the new Zodiac dates related to each sign have changed by up to a month. You may find that your sign has changed, meaning that you’re no longer a Capricorn or Pisces!
Update: This change only applies if you're born after the change date. How this can be the case when the Earth's axis has certainly not suddenly changed I'm not sure.
There is also some discussion about whether an entirely NEW zodiac sign is in existence. The sign is called Ophiuchus, and is said to be the new 13th star sign.

You may be wondering why exactly there are new zodiac signs in each month? The answer, according to astrologers, is due to the ancient Babylonians calculations. They said that the zodiac signs were related to which constellation the sun appeared in. Since then, the Earth’s axis has changed just enough, meaning that the sun now seems to be in different constellations. This has led to some astrologers deciding to change the way to system works – and moving the zodiac dates around a month. This has happened very slowly over time, however, so there is no need to get worried about the Earth spiralling into space!
So, has your zodiac sign changed? What do you think about it? I’m not expert, but an interesting point is that the signs are meant to signify a person’s personality. Does this means that you’re going to change as a person? I wouldn’t think so, but I would be interested to know how this is explained by astrologers. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know!

if you are born under a certain moon, you can be completely different than a person with the same zodiac and was born under a different moon.
so basically the earth only shifted recently, unless you were born in 2011.. this doesn't apply at all.

Your sun sign is calculated based on your birth date, time, and place. I think whether or not your sign changes would depend on when this axis wobble occurred. For babies being born now, this new alignment would make sense. For someone like me who was born in 1950 or even later, I think you are still the sun sign you were when you were born.

The change in star signs only counts if you were born in 2010 or after. If anyone here was born in 2010 congratulations for being able to talk and type so soon. For everyone else this doesn't matter.

There have always been 13 signs, since the mayans and azetes, it was in controversy because of its number.Its weather or not you choose to acknowledge and accept it. as well as the fact that we only see the aspects of each symbol we want to see. i am a Taurus (April 22) but according to the "new" zodiac i am a Aries. i did not see those qualities in me until I sat down and considered. I saw similarities in both.
I have to agree with PWalker281. We, most of us, were born quite some time ago and the plants, moon and sun, etc...where exactly where they were supposed to be and those are what our signs are. Now, since this supposed movement, if planets or the sun, moon, earth, etc. have changed, then thats different. But all of us born before 2000 at the very earliest, are not affected by this change. I think it only affects those born in the past couple of years or so.

I was born a Gemini, but the new horoscope says that m a Taurus. when reading the personality descriptions for both seems like I am a Gemini, but recently i've been noticing some changes in my personality the major change is that i'm tending to loving the loneliness! feeling comfortable the most when m home a lone! which a major trait in Taurus!
But overall, I still am a Gemini bcz that's where most of my traits fall in,,, it could be that the changes in the positions of the sun affect our personality a bit, but it's not gonna totally change it... therefore, at least for my case i'd say that you are what you're born, and i agree with everyone else abt that the new horoscope probably affects those born after the changes not us that were born way before all that! we may have traits of two signs, but for sure there's one that dominates (that's how i see it!)

To everybody else... this religious fervor you attribute to the change in dates is nonsense. From what I've read, it's been gradually happening over the last 2000 years. At the beginning of the age of Pices the dates were set... now were nearly at the end of the age the dates will need to be re-evaluated.
If I look at it objectively. I've noticed that I match my new sign better. As do some people who are close to me. Am I surprised? No.
It makes sense to me that our position in spacetime influences behavior and development. Your 'zodiac' sign is just a way of generalising observed behaviors of people of the same birth month over thousands of years. Nothing magical.

What if you did not know your sign, for example, and your friend told you that your acting like a man born on scorpio. Then you refer to your horoscope. And you see that you are a virgo. How is that? Astrology is only based on statistics. Most librarians for example, are said to born on libra sign. And so on.

Technically I don't think this matters unless you are born in this era, in which case this can be taken into account. After all, when you were born is when it's most accurate and so, 20 years ago I'm sure if it is changing that quickly, it was slightly different from now and yet I do think I am part Aquarius part Pisces so who knows.
Not sure if this is right, but I think those who've been here already before the change should follow the "old" zodiac. For those born after the change, the Zodiac should be in place to follow.

The sun is always occupying one of the houses, at the time you were born is when the astrological sign is determined. It has everything to do with where the sun was when you were born. Now the sun is at different places at the same time year so that means that my friend's daughter was born July 6 2009 is a Cancer while my son, born July 6 2010 is a Gemini as the sun was in the house of Gemini in 2010 and the house of Cancer in 2009.
Also, being born on a day that is in two houses is called being on the Cusp. The special thing about cusp babies is they can, probably will and most often do feel traits from both houses inert in their character.

Okay people, for more then a hundred years the earth passed under the constellation Ophiuchus between Scorpio and Sagittarius. So you were ALL born under what the new Zodiac says. This isn't new news, scientists have always known it.
There is nothing you can do to change it, muhahaha!!! The only reason it wasn't brought up before was because nobody wanted to have to change the system, and lest you forgot 13 was considered extremely unlucky in the eyes of our superstitious forefathers, they didn't even make 13th floors in buildings. It was about time we changed to the REAL Zodiac!!!
Really, you all should do a little research. The different zodiac signs are nothing new, and it all depends on which type of zodiac you follow. Stated simply, if you follow the zodiac that determines by the seasons, (which most people do) then nothing changes, if you follow the zodiac that goes by the constellations, then you have a different zodiac, but again, this is NOT new information, it just happened to get a lot of hype after a newspaper article was ran on it.
Due to the earth's wobble Scorpio is now 6 days and OPHIUCHUS is the 13th sign November 29- Dec 17th. according to the news on January 15th, which is now Sagittarius December 17- January 20. So lets through out the old and start the new people. The Year of the Jive Bunny will start on Feb 3 till Jan 22, 2012. So let's Party.

Well, I wouldn't say my sign changed. From what I know, you get your sign based on the stars or constellation aligned with the earth or something during the day you were born. "The day you were born".

I am a Scorpio and will always be a Scorpio. Mine did change according to the chart, i am now a Libra. Which i read the Libra description and I really do not fit that sign. So i will now and until i pass, forever be a Scorpio.

to Xeract. With this you mixed Western and Vedic astrology. Your new calculation is close to Vedic. But it is impossible to use Vedic but explain horoscope by Western system. For "new zodiac signs" you have to use jyotisha ( vedic astrology) where more important role plays location of Chandra (Moon). Explanation of location of Sun is not so important. It is similar for all born during one month.

Slow down everyone..the change might only affect the newborns, am I right? Because our sign is the sign when we were born, and not the new sign change, so stick to your normal sign because you were born only once. The problem is if this changes of the suns position or moon or whatever happened slowly over the years we may not have an accurate sign when we were born. Like for example if they only make the changes this year but actualy in the 70s or 60s or 90s this signs already change, then the zodiac sign of people born on those years may not be correct, am I right? Like, Ophiuchus has been there for a long time, it's just that they only acknowledged it recently. If you now belong to your "new" sign, well bad news, the astrology charts haven't been updated even during the time Ophiuchus joined the gang, and you can't get away with something like "My sign when I was born was this" and "It only affects those who were born recently" Because the zodiac constellations weren't in their correct positions anyway WHEN YOU WERE BORN!
Also, don't complain that "facts keep changing". Some hundreds of years ago, the Sun going around the Earth was a "fact". Theories are revised or dumped so that we do not remain fools forever. If they weren't, birth of new knowledge will be delayed, and you will not be enjoying a lot of things that you have now because of science and technology!
And, if your sign changed, SO WHAT? The stars do not dictate your life, YOU DO. Yes, my zodiac sign has changed from Sagittarius to the new 13th zodiac sign, Ophiuchus. I believe whether a person's zodiac sign has changed or not, it does not affect their personality. After all, astrology is just a guide, and perhaps, not an "exact" science. Also, we are all "multi-faceted" people with many personality layers. Although I would admit that some of the Ophiuchus traits do apply to me, I still have a lot of Sagittarius' traits and a bit of Scorpios' and Capricorns'. So, I try not to be baffled by any of these things because I know that I am what I am!!!:-)

Astrology is a vast subject but the short answer is western astrology, what most follow in America, is not changing because American's use a tropical zodiac that is fixed to the seasons and equinoxes and not to the constellations them selves. so the sign you have always been is what you will always be.

There's no "new signs". This is one of those red herrings astronomers occasionally trot out and claim it disproves astrology. This time, it happened to get some news drone's attention, and because nobody can be bothered to actually research anything that makes it into the news anymore, it made headlines.
Google "sidereal zodiac" and see what comes up. There have always been two zodiacs, and the reason for this isn't a new phenomenon. It's called precession of the equinoxes, and it's been happening for darned near forever.
Both zodiacs work astrologically speaking, but are useful for two different things.
Now, to everyone who fell for this red herring (which re-appears every time an astronomer gets bored)... please feel stupid so you will actually go look it up next time instead of lemming it right over a mental cliff like you did this time. I have always been a Capricorn - and I thought it fit my personality - but now that I am a Saggitarius - WOW! It is a total fit! From what I've read - the horoscopes have been right up to the point of change because Astrologers have always taken into account that there were 13 signs - in the past the number 13 was viewed as unlucky so the sign wasn't recognized. Now that the change is recognized we have our new signs which should still be accurate.

Second, there is no possible way for a planet's position in space to identify your character. Well as it is stated, this change has happened over a very long time, so that means that the sudden change of months did not occur over night. Just means that everyone has been reading the wrong sign to begin with. Although I feel my old sign (Libra) fits me a lot better than my new sign (Virgo) I was just on starting days of Libra (Sept 24) so there is not a huge change for me, as I do tend to read both (just in case) ;)

Learn to read. Those born before the new chart was announced, will remain their current zodiac sign. Those born 'AFTER' the new chart was announced, relate to the new chart.

As an Astrologer I have been working with the new zodiac for about a decade. Their is more to astrology than just the sun sign. The real reason why the zodiac has changed is called precession, which is that the sun moves backwards 1 degree every year in relation to the march 21 equinox. In Babylonian times the sun entered Aries on the 21 March. Some how this date became fixed as the start of the Zodiac.
As for ophicius it was amalgamated with Scorpio. The research I have done seems to indicate that the reason why was that ophicuis was always seen as the sign of the Goddess. This empowerment of women was deemed unorthodox in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD by the Christian churches.

I looked at my characteristics within my rising sign and my sun sign and strangely enough, my characteristics matched my rising sign. I'm a scorpio, but I have none of its traits whatsoever. My parents are both Libra and my grandmother is Gemini. I live with her and I get along well with her and any other gemini people. I have dated a gemini guy, who is absolutely gorgeous and he was fun and extremely lovable, especially in public. He had a tendency of being a tad jealous because everyone would stare me off and he'd look at me as if I was doing anything to get attention (laughs), but anyway, one of the characteristics of an aquarius is, they tend to want to be friends with a guy or a girl first and then want to go into a relationship, I'm exactly like that. Also, I adore my own space, I LOVE SPACE. More than the average aquarian female. My dad likes his space too. Probably got that from him. He's dating a cancer woman and she's currently smothering him with her clingyness (poor man). I would never text a guy first. I would only text him if he texts me first, especially with the gemini man. I will have the tendency to get jealous, but then I get over it and I don't care. I think anyone gets jealous really. They say that genes work like this: Your children inherit your parent's characteristics and personality traits. I am A LOT like my grandmother and I even have the same fingers turned slightly to the left and right on the EXACT same hands. I have the same malicious traits as gemini. I can be very spiteful. As a young girl I was very cheeky with friends, which my grandmother also was. (I think it's pretty cute LOL). When it comes down to it all, I think we inherit our family's traits and personalities and out of that our own personality eventually forms. The compatibility strategies of the star signs don't really match up. I get along better with air signs than the water signs. My best friend is a Libra. I would NOT want to date a cancer male EVER again, because they're too closed up about their feelings and one cheated on me. Extremely two faced. Also, I've encountered many scorpio girls. They're so soft and timid. I'm not like that at all, I may appear so at first. They tend to be shy, I'm not. I don't have the looks of a scorpio woman, except for the build..I look a lot like most air sign women do. The length and build match up with the scorpio's. (short and muscular) YUPP!! It is much better to date someone who is open about their feelings for you, because you then know where you stand with that person. Gemini men do have the tendency to flirt, but I don't think they notice it? Once they commit, they won't stray. They get bored easily, so do I. Look at your family member's traits and characteristics. I think your personality solidly depends on them! =•)
